Amsoil: Synthetic Oil Pioneers

February 28, 2010
Posted by CarRepairDad

Amsoil, which began development of its synthetic motor oil in 1963, is now more in demand than ever. A.J. Amatuzio, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force and someone who spent several years researching formulations from jet engine oil, developed Amsoil. While Amsoil motor oil was available in the 1970s, it was slow to catch on because it was more expensive when compared to conventional mineral oil. However, now that mineral oil has become so expensive, synthetic oil is a much more viable option for use in various engines. In addition to Amsoil motor oil, the company also manufactures a wide variety of synthetic lubricants and fluids for the engine including hydraulic fluids, gear lube, and Amsoil compressor oil.

Without a doubt, Amsoil is the leading manufacturer of synthetic oil, lubricants, and fluids because of their experience. There are several newer companies springing up here and there that have begun to develop their own synthetic oil because of increased demand, but Amsoil is the name to trust.

Anyone interested in car maintenance may or may not be aware of Amsoil Inc. For everyone who hasn’t heard of this company, they are based in Superior, Wisconsin. Their main focus is the formulation and packaging of different filters and synthetic automotive lubricants. There is a huge variety of Amsoil motor oil, including various kinds of motor oil, gear oil, hydraulic fluids, and much more.

Albert J. Amatuzio, who was first introduced to synthetic lubricants as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force, founded the company. This would prove the inspiration for founding AMZOIL, INC. This was later changed to its current form, Amsoil. The product was first brought into the market in 1972, and it had the distinct advantage of being the first synthetic motor oil in the United States to meet the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute.

Here in the Pacific Northwest it rains a lot and automobile parts are vulnerable to rust damage. There are only so many ways you can protect your car from water damage. One way is to always make sure to park it in a garage. But we all know this isn’t always an option. Even when we have a garage at home, we might not have one at work.

Synthetic grease is another way we can protect our car parts from rust. Synthetic grease composed of synthetic base oils and lithium-complex thickeners that provide excellent oxidation protection. Use synthetic grease to oil the gears on your car to prevent rust and create mechanical stability.

Farmers have used an increasing amount of conventional fertilizer since the end of World WarII. Initially, huge yield increases were realized, but over the last few decades, yields have leveled out and, in some cases, declined despite numerous advances in seeds, pesticides and equipment.

With increased consumer concern about residues and hazardous run-off combined with tougher government regulations, farmers have begun using more Natural Fertilizer products. Most of these products are incorporated into their existing practices and they report many benefits from their use.

Replicated research trials and actual field use trials conducted on AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer 4-3-3 were used to determine the effects of AGGRAND when incorporated into crop production systems in the following areas:

1. Seed germination

2. Plant growth stimulation

3. Disease suppression

4. Yields

The Myth that Synthetic Motor Oil May Cuase Sludge

February 26, 2010
Posted by CarRepairDad

Its a common myth that Synthetic Motor oils may cause sludge, but the opposite is true compared to the more traditional petroleum style of oil. One of the first things that happen to newer petroleum oil is that the lighter ingredients burn off in petroleum which in turn makes the oil more bulky and thick. The second thing that happens to the petroleum style of oil is that after time the chemicals start to mix which in turn begins to start forming a sludge like substance.

Synthetic oil on the other hand is made up of different chemicals compared to petroleum. Synthetic motor oils hold up against sludge because of the chemical make up and its ability to defend the loss of the lighter ingredients which in turns keeps the oil lighter which is a ideal for what you want to use in a engine. With a lighter mixture of oil and keeping the oil at nice mixture will help with the gas mileage and help save the wear and tear that your engine could form with heavy mixed oil.

Why you would use 5W-40W Diesel Oil

February 25, 2010
Posted by CarRepairDad

With newer models of diesel fueled vehicles having new emission requirements its very important to use the right diesel oil. That’s why using 5W-40W would be a great option to help with the newer emission requirements. This diesel oil helps give great lubrication that can be used in personal vehicles, outboard and commercially used engines. AMSOIL has made great strides in developing this newer diesel oil that helps protect agaisnt heat plus the wear and tear of using a vehicle.

Another great benefit about the 5W-40w oil is the improved fuel mileage. A few reliable sources have come out and said that tests have shown up to a 3 percent improvement in fuel mileage compared to a traditional diesel oil. You burn less oil vapors through the combustion chambers which means that the diesel oil keeps the viscosity which helps you with the better fuel mileage.

If you were to mix the 5W-40W with other oils would shorten the life of the the oil and the benefits of what this new diesel oil can do. You would only want to use 5W-40W so that you get all the benefits of what this diesel oil can do for your engine.

Amsoil P.I. is a new fuel additive that improves the cleaning of the combustion chamber, port fuel injector deposits and all but making so that you do not need to have your fuel injectors cleaned after using this new Fuel additives. When going to get your emissions checked this new additive would be ideal to use prior to going in.

Other benefits of using this new Fuel additive would be that it would help your engine reach higher levels of efficiency, 2.3%-5.7% better gas mileage at plus more power in vehicles that are newer. With Cars that have deposits before using this fuel additive showed after using the Amsoil P.I. that the tank was cleaner after just one tank of gas.

Harley Davidson Comes out with Motorcyle Oil

February 24, 2010

Harley-Davidson recently came out with lubricant oil that you can use just for there motorcycles which in itself is a great move by Harley Davidson. The reason that makes this Motorcycle oil great is that its made just for the air cooled engines that Harley Davidson’s comes with. For a long time the motorcycle company was claiming that the petroleum based genuine H-D oil was the best motorcycle oil for there brand of bikes, but after many tests people were realizing that this sort of oil was leaving a scar 80 percent larger then different synthetic oils that were tested as well.

The reason that Harley Davidson was defending the use of the genuine H-D oil in the past was that it claimed that extreme heat conditions were not very common in motorcycle engines. Because the engine in the Harley Davidson are air cooled, when the engine is in idle there is no air flowing through so the heat rises quick. Even though Harley Davidson still says that no test has been given to say that the H-D oil was bad for there engines they now have come out with this synthetic motorcycle oil for there motorcycles.
