Foliar Applications
While plants do take up nutrients through their roots, they can’t always meet all of their nutrient demands that way. For example, if soil pH is higher (more alkaline) or lower (more acidic) than the optimum range needed for plant growth, then essential nutrients become unavailable.
Foliar feeding is a very efficient way of providing nutrients during periods of peak nutrient demands and in situations where the soil pH level is creating a nutrient deficiency without sacrificing performance. AGGRAND 4-3-3 and AGGRAND 0-0-8 contain concentrated kelp extract. Kelp provides a wide array of plant nutrients, chelating agents and plant hormones. Kelp promotes drought, heat, and cold tolerance of vegetable and flowers. They are particularly effective when applied as foliar sprays.
4-3-3 is Natural Fertilizer
0-0-8 is Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash
Application on Transplants
Transplanting is a stressful period for young bedding plants. Minimizing transplant shock keeps plants growing vigorously, avoiding unnecessary setbacks which can delay flowering and reduce yields.
AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer should be used for watering in small tranplants. Shrubs and trees can be soaked overnight in a bucket of AGGRAND 4-3-3 0r 0-0-8 before transplanting. Use a mixture of one ounce per gallon for soaking and 2 to 3 ounces per gallon of water for watering in transplants. The addition of 1 to 2 ounces of AGGRAND 0-12-0 and 1/2 to 1 ounce of AGGRAND 0-0-8 to the solution to increase phosphorus and potassium availability when watering in the transplants will aid the fertilizer in long term root development.
Avoid transplanting during the heat of the day to avoid root desiccation (drying out).
Clouldy weather is the best time to transplant.
Keep soil moist until plant root systems become well-established.

4-3-3 = Natural Fertilizer.
Bedding Plants
AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer 4-3-3 also may be diluted in a watering can to 1 to 3 ounces per gallon of water (higher rates as growth increases related to crop demands). Soil applications: AGGRAND 4-3-3 should be applied at 10 to 14 day intervals (apply more frequently when non-soil mixes are used). Every four weeks the salts should be leached from the media by flushing the containers with fresh water.
After leaching, fertilizer with 4-3-3. Additional calcium, phosphorus and potassium are needed at planting. Mix in 2 to 3 ounces of AGGRAND Natural Liquid Bonemeal 0-12-0 (NBM) and 1 to 2 ounces AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash 0-0-8 (NKP) with the 4-3-3 to provide more nutrients.
Foliar applications: A fine mist is applied to bedding plants for additional uptake of nutrients. Apply 1 to 2 ounces of AGGRAND 4-3-3 per gallon of water at 14 to 21 day intervals after the plants reach 3 to 4 true leaves.
AGGRAND Products
AGGRAND products are different from many other products. They are formulated to give excellent results when used for foliar feeding and root feeding. In addition, they build the soil which results in prolific root growth and enhances top growth. The highest quality ingredients are used in AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers in order to give the best results. We also understand that people who use our products need technical advice. That’s why we have an agronomist/horticulturalist on the AGGRAND staff who works with our clients to develop and fine tune their farming and gardening practices according to their specific needs.
For commercial applications, AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer 4-3-3 is applied to the soil at a 200:1 (water to fertilizer) ratio through a standard injection system when plants reach 2 to 3 true leaves. The ratio can be decreased to 100:1 for more demanding plant types as the growth rate increases.
Long-Term Benefits
Converting to a more sustainable or organic system produces many noticeable short-term benefits. However, the long-term benefits often determine the real success of the system. Reduction or elimination of environmental impacts. Viable crop production in years when other farms experience crop failures. Buildup of topsoil. Satisfaction of becoming more dependent on nature’s ability to provide.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, a nurseryman, landscaper, or farmer, AGGRAND products produce high yields and quality growth by stimulating the biological activity in the soil which provides a continuous release of nutrients as the plants need them. AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers are useful during soil preparation, planting, transplanting and plant growth. In addition to the macronutrients, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (N-P-K), AGGRAND products contain micronutrients, growth hormones, chelating agents, vitamins and humus which provide a balanced nutritional program for plants and the creatures in the soil.
Benefits
Numerous beneficial effects become apparent as the conversion process proceeds. Heavier soils become looser and more friable as stable aggregates form. Lighter soil become stickier and less porous. Earthworms begin to proliferate (an indicator of a balanced soil ecosystem). Crops are less susceptible to insect and disease attack. Seed weights, seed protein, BRIX (tissue sugar levels) and forage protein levels increase. Livestock become healthier (higher milk production, faster weight gains, lower vet bills).
Crops are more tolerant of drought, heat and cold. Crops are darker green in color, mature earlier and recover quicker from stress. Crops exhibit increased nutrient and water use efficiency. Costs of production decrease.
Minimum Tillage
Other methods such as minimum tillage can be incorporated in to this plan. The land only needs to be plowed once on the alfalfa, sweet corn, small grain and bean rotation (before alfalfa planting). Minimum tillage for row crops and small grains involves special “no-till” planters that are effective in planting through stubble. Special once-over tillage machines preparation in one or two passes.
Minimum tillage reduces weed competition, keeps residue near the soil surface where it can be broken down quickly by fungi and bacteria, reduces compaction, protects the soil from erosion and minimizes leaching of nutrients into the groundwater.
Microbial Activity
The AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer application is reduced to six gallons per year in the first three years (instead of 12 gallons), which still promotes increased proliferation of microbial activity. In this example, enough nitrogen is supplied during the first and second years by the preceding crop and chemical nitrogen. In the third year, the alfalfa, crop residue, biological activity and AGGRAND will supply enough nitrogen for another sweet corn crop; an alternate plan involves rotating in a small grain or another legume such as beans.
The rotation effect, return of crop residue and AGGRAND applications produce optimum yields of succeeding crops in the fourth and fifth years. The AGGRAND application rate is reduced by 10-20 percent each year thereafter, until the minimum threshold is reached, which will maintain crop productivity levels and soil biological activity. By the fifth year, the field is rotated back to alfalfa. The alfalfa is maintained for four years or more depending on severity of climatic conditions. This 10-year rotation plan is much more sustainable, less expensive and produces optimum yields of successive crop throughout the rotation.
Organic Matter
The third method to put into practice is the addition of organic matter to the soil, which offsets the need to apply high amounts of AGGRAND in the first couple of years. Cover crops, manure, compost and residue from previous crops can supply a large portion of the nutrient requirements for many crops. In the sweet corn example, if alfalfa was the previous crops, the initial application of AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer and chemical nitrogen is reduced because the alfalfa supplies as much as 100 lbs. of nitrogen in the first year, 50 lbs. in the second year and 25 lbs. in the third year, while also supplying appreciable levels of other nutrients,
The chemical nitrogen application is reduced to 25 lbs. applied as a starter to ensure rapid growth in the early stages
of development during the first two years.
Early Growth
The stimulation of early growth and establishment of high value vegetable crops is what often makes these crops profitable. The second window for foliar applications is during the pre-bloom stage, while the last window is after fruit set, up to three weeks before final harvest. During the pre-bloom stage, 1-3 gallons of AGGRAND Natural Fertilizer are applied. Some crops may respond to the addition of 1-2 gallons of AGGRAND Liquid Bonemeal and /or 1-2 pints of AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash per acre to the tank mix at pre-bloom.
During the fruit fill pre-harvest stage, the application of 1-3 gallons of AGGRAND Natual Fertilizer or 1-2 pints of AGGRAND Natural Kelp and Sulfate of Potash lengthens the harvest period and increases the fruit-life. The rate andcombinations vary according to soil fertility, crop type and developmental stage.
